How to pick the right drone?
Posted on November 26 2018
Drones can be a ton of fun. But which one is the right choice for you? We have gathered some ideas on the basics you need to consider before taking to the skies.
If you are looking for highest quality images, then the specifications for the camera are going to be the key. Photo and video resolution are the best gauges of image quality in the drone’s integrated camera. Most drones come with an integrated camera. Some allow you to attach your own. Selecting a drone camera isn’t much different from selecting a digital camera. You can find information here.
Most people have the wrong impression of the amount of time a drone is capable of operating. The truth is the even the most capable drones will struggle to fly for more than 30 minutes. If you think you are going to want to be flying your drone for longer durations, extra batteries are a great way to go. However, just don’t forget to include the cost of the extra batteries in your calculations.
Brushless vs. brushed motors:
When reviewing a drone’s specs, you will likely come across this term. Brushless motors cost more than brushed ones. Brushless operate more quietly, and generally will live much longer. As a result, you will not have to replace them as often.
How about Price?
Most of the time, the price of the drone is a good general indicator of the quality of the unit. Higher priced drones will fly for longer periods, have higher quality cameras, and will allow for greater range. Not everyone needs a drone that costs several thousand dollars – for sure! Be mindful of how you are going to use the drone and how often. Go from there.
